Undo Guard — backup and undo for Shopify. Last updated 7 September 2026.
What we store
When you install Undo Guard we keep copies of your store’s catalog and content so they can be restored later: products and their variants, media references and metafields; collections; pages, blogs and articles; and, on paid plans, the text files of your themes. Each copy is stored as a JSON document together with a hash, a timestamp and a note of what triggered it.
We also store your myshopify.com domain, your Shopify access token, your chosen alert settings and — if you enable alerts — one e-mail address for them.
What we do not store
No customer data and no orders. Undo Guard never requests, reads or keeps customer names, addresses, e-mail addresses, payment details or order records. It does not read inventory quantities and never writes them.
Why we store it
Only to provide the service you installed: showing you what changed in your store, and putting a previous version back when you ask. We do not sell data, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use it to train models.
How long we keep it
Version history is kept for the window of your plan — 30 days on Free, 365 days on Pro, 730 days on Plus — after which older versions are deleted automatically. The most recent versions of each item are always kept so a restore stays possible. If you cancel a paid plan, the longer window stays in force for a further 14 days before the shorter one applies.
If you uninstall the app, everything we hold for your store is deleted after 30 days. The 30 days exist so that an accidental uninstall, or a reinstall after changing plans, does not cost you your history. Ask us and we will delete it sooner — we answer within one business day, so treat that as the timeframe, not “immediately”.
Sub-processors
Your data is stored on a single server operated by the app developer and is not copied to any third-party analytics or marketing service. Alert e-mails, if you enable them, are delivered through the SMTP provider configured for the installation. If you are in the EEA or the UK, note that the hosting region may be outside it; write to us before installing if your own compliance obligations require a specific region, and we will tell you where the server is.
Your rights
You can export everything we hold about your store as a ZIP of JSON files from Settings at any time, on a paid plan. You can ask for deletion, correction or a copy of your data by writing to the address below; we answer within one business day. Shopify’s mandatory shop/redact, customers/redact and customers/data_request webhooks are implemented — the customer ones have nothing to return, because we hold no customer data.
